Who Is Preet Chandi, First Woman To Set New Record In An Unsupported Solo Polar Expedition?

No matter which country the Indians choose to serve or settle, they always keep the Indian flag high. Another good news that will make every Indian’s heart swell with pride came on January 30, Monday. An Indian-origin British woman, Preet Chandi, who serves as an officer in the British Army, has set a new record in a solo polar expedition. She became the first woman to complete a solo expedition across Antarctica to the South Pole.

Why Is Preet Chandi In News?

Preet Chandi is making headlines after setting a new record in polar expeditions. She has definitely become an inspiration after showing the world what a woman is capable of achieving. For the very first time, a woman did a polar expedition without the help and support of anyone, and in fact, broke all previous records too. Preet Chandi has quite a successful career as a British Army Medical Official. She has expertise in physiotherapy.

Career And Education

Preet Chandi completed her higher education at the University of Derby, which is also her birthplace. She was admitted to the British Army at the age of 19, but she earned her place as the Lance Corporal in 2013, when she was 27 years old. She currently holds the rank of Captain in the army and has served in various countries including, Nepal, Kenya and more.
