TN Govt Offers Rs 1 Crore Prize To ‘The Elephant Whisperers’ Director Kartiki Gonsalves, Guneet Monga Cheers!

The Indian documentary, The Elephant Whisperers, bagging an Oscar this year made us all very proud of the film and the entire team who worked to bring it to our screens. Kartiki Gonsalves, who donned the director’s hat for the first time, and Guneet Monga, the producer of the film, have been widely appreciated as the women who made this happen! After much international appreciation, the Tamil Nadu government has also extended theirs to Kartiki Gonsalves. The government has announced a cash prize of Rs one crore for bringing such glory to the nation and the state.

Movie reviewer Christopher Kanagaraj took to his Twitter handle to share the video of Kartiki getting felicitated by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin. He posed with Kartiki with the Oscars trophy. He also felicitated her by draping a red and pink shawl over her shoulders. MK Stalin, then, offered a cheque of Rs one crore to her.

Guneet Monga, too, took to her Twitter to share this good news! She wrote that this is an amazing gesture and expressed gratitude toward the TN state government. She further expressed her thanks for showing encouragement and support to Kartiki Gonsalves and The Elephant Whisperers.
