Sania Mirza’s tearful farewell from the Grand Slam was a special moment for the athlete and her fans across the world. On January 27, 2023 the Tennis legend played her last Grand Slam match in the Australian Open and bid the special court adieu with a heartfelt speech. And while the world hailed the six-time Grand Slam winner for her legacy, celebrities from Bollywood, lauded her for her achievements.

Many stars from Anil Kapoor to Priyanka Chopra and Kajol took to their Instagram and Twitter accounts to congratulate Mirza and re-shared her tearful speech from the tournament, and a special clip where she welcomes her son to the court on her farewell. In a special post, actress Priyanka Chopra shared a clip from the Australian Tour, and called Sania–”Legend.” Other celebs including Kajol, Anil Kapoor, Ananya Panday and Abhishek Bachchan called her an inspiration for women across the globe. During her special speech, Sania looked back at her long-lived career. In the final game, Sania and Rohan Bopanna lost the match against Brazilian players. Her last match will be the WTA 1000 tournament before she finally retires. Post the match, Sania’s family celebrated her career with a surprise party, pictures of which were shared by her on Instagram.
