Planning A Destination Wedding This Year? PM Modi Just Announced Something Special For You!

Thanks to Bollywood celebrities, destination wedding has become more popular than ever. From Katrina and Vicky Kaushal to newlyweds Kiara Advani and Sidharth Malhotra, celebrity couples picked special spots, away from the city buzz to get married. Not just celebrities, but destination weddings have been the most loved way of tying the knot with only your special ones. Keeping this craze in consideration, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has some excellent plans for couples planning their next destination wedding.

In his latest speech on Friday, PM explained the potential of tourism in India. He mentioned how the middle-class and upper-middle class are opting for destination weddings. His approach to boosting tourism was presented in lieu of such weddings, which have become a profitable business today. Speaking about this he added, “Destination wedding business has a big potential. Elites go abroad but middle-class and upper-middle-class people go to local destinations and it has newness.” While shedding light on this unique way of promoting tourism, the PM also mentioned how only a few states are considered for a big-budget wedding, and through his approach, he wishes to bring many other, unexplored states and cities under the spotlight.

Suggesting this, he also mentioned how families can choose spots like Tamil Nadu or even Assam, and take the state’s cultural route to tie the knot. Explaining this he said, “Special packages can be announced for such destinations.” Alongside the new, out-of-the-box idea, PM also mentioned how tourism seems to be a fancy word, that only a certain section can afford, while in contrast, travelling has always been an imperative part of India’s culture. From travelling to religious destinations like–Char Dham Yatra, and Dwadash Jyotirling Yatra, to promoting school trips, he mentioned the many ways in which India could also welcome people across the globe and boost tourism. As a part of mission mode, 50 destinations will be picked and be given a special mention in tourists list, as they plan a trip to India. This will also include the upscaling of entrepreneurship, more language options, and some extra attention given to sports infrastructure, in order to boost tourism.

The speech was part of a webinar–Developing Tourism in Mission Mode.
