BJP’s Ram Kadam Wants ‘Pathaan’ Makers To Explain Anti-Hindu Content

The latest song that has all of us grooving is ‘Besharam Rang’ from Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone starrer Pathaan. But even before its release, the film seems to have landed in a legal soup as political leaders have raised objections to the song and the colour of clothes worn by the actress in the song. Earlier Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra attacked the film and the song for “insulting” Hindutva and spoke about the communal angle of the song. Several other Hindutva activists and BJP leaders also called out the film as Deepika Padukone wore a “saffron” bikini in ‘Besharam Rang’ which has been deemed as a holy colour. The leaders also called her bikini “vulgar”. And now, another political leader, Maharashtra BJP MLA Ram Kadam has connected the song and Deepika Padukone with another communal and political angle by talking about the actress’ support from JNU students in the 2020 incident.

Taking to Twitter, Maharashtra BJP MLA Ram Kadam pointed out that Deepika Padukone and Shah Rukh Khan starrer Pathaan has been opposed by several people and organisations across India and Maharashtra currently has a “Hindu” government with “Hindutva” ideology. He also asked the makers of the film including the producer and director to appear in front of all the Saints who have objected to the film and explain themselves and clarify why their stance. Further, the BJP leader pointed out that any film or serial that insults “Hindutva” in Maharashtra will not work in the state. Referring to Deepika Padukone’s solidarity with JNU students in 2020 when they were attacked by a mob with alleged BJP and RSS backing, BJP’s Ram Kadam said that JNU supporters are not hurting the sentiments of “janeu-dhaari” that is Hindus. For the unversed, several BJP leaders have called out the song for “love jihad” as it has a Hindu actress paired with a Muslim actor and can be seen wearing the colours orange and green in the song ‘Besharam Rang’. People have also called for the boycott of the film as well as Bollywood (not the first time it’s happened). On Thursday, a Supreme Court Advocate also filed a complaint against Pathaan actors Deepika Padukone and Shah Rukh Khan calling ‘Besharam Rang’ vulgar and obscene. He alleged that the song hurts Hindu sentiments as Deepika is wearing a saffron bikini as she grooves to the song with SRK. He has sought a ban on the song.
