Female Doctor Dies By Suicide In MP, Father Blames 40-Hour Shifts

If you have friends pursuing medical, you might know that their job is very stressful. They have to be mentally and physically strong to cope with this demanding job. However, some take drastic steps if they are unable to keep up with it and very unfortunate news was reported from Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. A post-graduate medical student died by suicide.
The woman was 24-year-old and she was pursuing her post-graduation from Gandhi Medical College, Bhopal. She has been identified as Akansha Maheshwari and was a resident of Gwalior. She was in the first year of her post-graduation gynaecology course. Akanksha’s friends were the first ones to break into her room when she did not respond. They immediately informed the police about it. The woman left behind a suicide note, in which she apologised to her parents for taking this step. As per reports, the woman died by suicide on January 4, Wednesday.
She also mentioned that there is no one else responsible for this decision and cited “Personal reasons” for this drastic step. However, the grieving father has blamed the medical institute for making his daughter work 40-hour shifts, as per reports. In the suicide note, the woman also wrote that she could not deal with the pressure. She injected herself with four doses of anaesthesia in her dorm. Reportedly, the police have taken her family’s statements and the investigation is going on. The Koh-Fiza police hold the jurisdiction of the case but have refrained from commenting on the details of the case, and are waiting for the post-mortem reports.
