Another disheartening news about suppressing women’s rights and freedom of choice has surfaced from Iran. As per the reports, mental health clinics are going to be set up for women who refuse to wear hijabs. Well, according to the rule makers, women who do not choose to wear hijabs will go through psychological treatment at the clinic. Read on to know more about it.

Mental Health Clinics For Women Who Don’t Want To Wear Hijabs

Another regressive announcement has been made by the Islamic Body in Iran, and this time, they have announced the establishment of mental health clinics in Tehran for women who refuse to wear Hijabs. They have termed it as a mental health issue and there will be psychological treatments for the same. Mehri Talebi Darestani has taken up the responsibility of managing these clinics and in her official statement, she said that the treatment at these mental health clinics will be optional for the women. As per her statements, the clinics will focus on treating young girls, women and young adults. The sole purpose of this clinic is to promote “dignity, modesty, chastity, and hijab.”

A few days back, a college student had stripped to her underwear to protest against the mandatory hijab rules. The girl was sent for mental health treatment after the incident. She was also arrested earlier for the protest.
