Is Iran’s Morality Police Really Abolished? Iranians Declare Three-Day Strike Amidst Conflicting Reports

The death of Mahsa Amini allegedly at the hands of the Morality police had sparked a mass protest in Iran. There were many reports of violence used by the authorities to curb the protest, and many other women also lost their lives in the protest. Now there were reports of the abolition of the morality police from the country, however, there was no confirmation of this from the concerned authorities. And hence, these conflicting reports have led to a three-day strike in the country.

There was news suggesting that the Attorney General of the country, Mohammad Jafar Montazeri had made a statement about abolishing the morality police. However, the interior ministry responsible for managing the morality police did not release any statement to confirm the Attorney General’s announcement. And hence, to protest this conflicting issue in the country, the protesters declared a three-day strike in the country on Sunday, December 4.

Protesters have also called for a rally on Wednesday in Tehran’s Azadi Square. As per the news, the Human Rights Organisation from Iran has also reported that till Saturday, some 470 protestors have been killed, however, it does not tally with the reports presented by the interior ministry, as per whom the number of deaths is only 200, as per the news.
