Indian Wrestlers Write To IOA Chief PT Usha, Demand Justice In WFI Sexual Harassment Case

The entire county is closely following the updates on the case of sexual harassment allegations made by Vinesh Phogat. The WFI President is currently facing these allegations by the wrestlers and demands have been made to take strict action against him. Recently, Vinesh Phogat took to her social media account to share a letter written on this matter to the President of the Indian Olympic Association, PT Usha. It has been collectively written and signed by a group of reputed wrestlers of the country.

The letter shared by Vinesh Phogat has details expressing concerns over the sexual allegations against the Wrestlers Federation Of India (WFI) President, Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. It also lists down the demands made by the wrestlers in this case. The letter also had signatures of some renowned wrestlers of the country- Vinesh Phogat, Bajrang Punia, Sakshi Malik, Ravi Dahiya and Deepak Punia. In the letter written to PT Usha, the wrestlers mentioned the mental harassment by the WFI President that Vinesh Phogat was subjected to after a defeat in the Tokyo Olympics. They have also claimed that the coaches in the WFI camp are incompetent and hold no merits. The wrestlers have also accused the WFI of not giving the wrestlers their due payments.

The wrestlers have demanded the removal of the WFI President from office. They have also asked for a dissolution of the WFI and a new set of officials. The wrestlers also want a thorough investigation by an internal committee on the sexual harassment allegations made by the young wrestlers. Giving clarification at the end of the letter, the wrestlers informed that there is no involvement of any political party and they just want to create a safe place for female wrestlers.

Every little effort is being made by these renowned wrestlers to get justice for all the injustices and harassment that they had to go through. The Sports Ministry has asked for an official statement from the WFI and Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh will also hold a press conference on January 20.
