WFI Chief Calls Sexual Harassment Allegations “Political Conspiracy”, Promises To Expose Truth
He has promise an expose at a press conference!On January 18, one of India’s top female wrestlers, Vinesh Phogat accused the Chief of the Wrestling Federation of India and BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh of sexual harassment. Vinesh Phogat alleged that the sexual harassment of female wrestlers in the country has been going on for several years. While these allegations have been categorically denied by the WFI Chief, Vinesh Phogat received immense support from other prominent wrestlers who came forward to support her and joined her in the protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar demanding the WFI Chief’s resignation. But now, Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh has spoken about a “political conspiracy” behind the allegations that he is going to expose at a press conference on. January 20 after 4 pm.

Amid the ongoing protest following the sexual harassment allegations against him, WFI Chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh claimed that there is no truth in the allegations and that there is an industrialist behind the conspiracy. He went on to add that he will expose the “political conspiracy” while calling it an attempt to play with the dignity of female wrestlers of India. He had earlier scheduled a press conference at 12 pm but then moved it to 4 pm.
Speaking to the media WFI Chairman also said that he hasn’t spoken to anyone yet but he will speak at the press conference at Nawabganj’s Wrestling Training Centre in UP’s Gonda district. Further, Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh revealed that 300 athletes from Haryana have arrived in the city.

On the other hand, Vinesh Phogat has gained more support from fellow athletes as boxer Vijender Singh and Olymics silver-medal winner Ravi Dahiya join the wrestlers’ protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar seeking WFI President’s resignation. Several other wrestlers like Sangeet Phogat, Bajrang Punia, Sakshi Malik and Anshu Malik have joined the protest.

Celebrated wrestler Vinesh Phogat met the Sports Minister around 2am on Friday along with other wrestlers. Soon after the meeting, the wrestler told the media that former wrestlers should be appointed to work for WFI. The wrestlers were also supposed to meet the sports minister once again on Friday but the same has been postponed.
