Farmer Leader Narsh Tikait Stops Wrestlers From Immersing Medals In Ganga, Seeks 5 Days Time

The wrestlers’ protest intensified after they were detained by the Police on May 28. However, things turned much more complicated after Sakshi Malik, Bajrang Punia and Vinesh Phogat declared that the protesting Indian wrestlers will immerse all the medals that they have won in the Ganga at Haridwar on the evening of May 30 stating that these medals hold no meaning as they have already been forced to give up their self-respect. However, as the wrestlers arrived at Haridwar’s Har Ki Pauri to prepare to throw the medals in the Ganga, Farmers’ leader Naresh Tikait also arrived there to console them and stop them from doing the same.

Arriving at Har Ki Pauri, farmer leader Naresh Tikait intervened in the matter and requested the protesting wrestlers to hold onto the medals and sought 5 days’ time from them. Naresh Tikait took the medals from the wrestlers.

Further, the top Indian grapplers have given an ultimatum to the Centre stating that if no action is taken against WFI chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, they will return in 5 days to immerse their medals in the Ganga. As of now, the wrestlers have returned.
