DCW Demands Info Of Sellers, Buyers Of Acid On Amazon, Flipkart

Who would have thought that a dangerous thing like acid could be easily available on e-commerce websites? That could be so easily purchased by people for criminal purposes? This is the latest shocking detail which has been revealed in the Delhi acid attack case. Technical evidence has revealed that the main accused, Sachin Arora, purchased acid on Flipkart to throw at the 17-year-old schoolgirl. Highlighting the easy availability of acids on Amazon and Flipkart, the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) has written a letter to the chief executive officers of Amazon and Flipkart.

In their letter, the women’s panel has written that the main accused of the Delhi acid attack brought acid on Flipkart and said that it is illegal. The panel also demanded answers from the shopping sites about why acid is so easily available. They also asked the e-commerce giants to provide details of the sellers who have listed acid as a product on their websites.

Apart from this, they also asked for a copy of the licence to sell acid online and also asked to be provided with the photocopy of the ID proofs of those persons who brought acid from their portals as well.

The victim of the acid attack, a 17-year-old schoolgirl, was going to school when this horrible incident took place. The main accused, Sachin Arora, and one of his friends Harshit Aggarwal were on a bike when the former threw acid at the girl. This incident has been captured in a CCTV camera as well.
