Another shameful crime of r*pe and intimidation has come to the surface. A former senior employee at the Municipal Corporation in Thane has been booked for r*ping a 31-year-old woman for a span of three years. The more shocking allegation in this crime is that it has links with the r*pe accused astrologer Ashok Kharat. The victim has alleged that the accused took her to the astrologer. Read on.
What Is the Case?
As per the news reports, a former senior official at the Thane Municipal Corporation has been booked for repeatedly r*ping a woman for over three years, between 2020 and 2023. As per a TOI report, the victim has also alleged that she was taken to the r*pe accused self-styled godman Ashok Kharat for intimidation through black magic. She was taken to his home in Nashik, as per the reports. Furthermore, the FIR reveals that the woman was working as a contractual data entry operator with the Thane Municipal Corporation, and the assault began in 2020.
Going by a police officer’s statement, in one of the initial meetings between the woman and the senior official, the latter allegedly spiked her drink and assaulted her in her unconscious state. He also recorded the act on his phone and threatened to leak the footage if she tried reaching out to the police and if she did not fulfil his demands. The victim alleged that she was assaulted in several locations by the accused and was also taken to the “renowned astrologer, Captain Ashok Kharat”. As per her statement, she was forced to participate in superstitious rituals under the pretext of her well-being. As of now, the accused has not been taken into custody.

Who Is Ashok Kharat?
Ashok Kharat, a navy officer turned astrologer, has been accused in several r*pe, cheating and money laundering cases. He is currently in police custody, who was recently in the fifth r*pe case.
