Men Reveal 5 Things They Had To Unlearn To Understand Women Better, We Love The Effort!

There are a lot of complexities when it comes to understanding how people and their individual perspectives work. Especially when you look at the dating and relationship landscape, it can be hard to get your grip and understand what to learn and unlearn about people. Recently I came across an interesting thread where men on Reddit had a conversation about a few things they had to unlearn about women. The thread was a combination of personal anecdotes and reflections that had a lot of new perspectives about women that helped men understand women a little better.

1. Men Must Always Be Better Than Women

Men discussed the misconception that society has put into our heads which makes you feel that men must be better than women at everything that do. I mean, no matter how much we say that it shouldn’t be the case, the patriarchy has made it seem such that you can’t help but put yourself into the stereotype of men or women.

2. Understanding That The Right Word Is “Partner”

A few men talked about realizing the concept of partnership, talking about the idea of moving away from traditional gender roles towards a more equal participation and dynamic relationship. The term ‘boyfriend’ or ‘girlfriend’ is definitely cute, but does that in any way have a stereotype attached to it?

3. Wanting Women To Always “Understand”

Men also discussed the stereotypical idea of a woman always being understanding in a relationship. I mean, we all agree that women are expected to be more mature and understanding in a relationship but what most relationships fail at is understanding that women too have times when they need to be understood.

4. Being Able To See Women As Flawed

Many men talked about the idea of women being put in a position where they are always expected to be ideal. Trying to find a woman who is angelic is what men have been told all their lives, but understanding that women can be flawed and multi-faceted, just like men is important.
