Yami Gautam Summoned By ED For Alleged Money Laundering. The Penalty Can Be Steep
It’s only recently that Yami Gautam created quite a stir in her beautiful and simple wedding pictures as she tied the knot with filmmaker Aditya Dhar. She made one hell of a pahadi bride, stunning in red attire – of course, we also remember how Ayushmann Khurrana and Vikrant Massey pulled her leg. We remember how it irritated Kangana Ranaut because she felt they ridiculed the pahadi bridal attire. Yami is in the honeymoon phase and she is once again found herself in middle of a havoc.
She has been summoned by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with a money laundering case. The probe agency found foreign exchange transactions of ₹ 1.5 crore in her bank account which seems to be in violation of the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA).
Mumbai: Enforcement Directorate (ED) summons actor Yami Gautam, asking her to appear before them next week to record her statement in connection with alleged irregularities under FEMA (Foreign Exchange Management Act).

According to the act, if the violation is established, a penalty of upto thrice the amount can be made. The main objective of this act was to facilitate external trade and payments, as well as developing an organised Indian forex market. Having said that, the act has applied limitations and prohibitions on certain transactions. The kind of foreign exchange transaction that happened and if the amount is permitted can determine if it constitutes for a civil offence or not.

Yami Gautam is summoned to give a statement on the same and for her sake, we hope she has a good explanation. Otherwise, the standard penalty won’t be a small amount. It’s almost ₹ 4.5 crore in penalty unless they choose to waive it off.
She was also called earlier by ED but she couldn’t appear before the probe agency to record her statement. Meanwhile, this is a civil case and proceeding are on under the FEMA.
