And as per reports, Aruna Miller, an Indian-American has become the first immigrant to hold the position of Lieutenant Governor in Maryland. Who is Aruna Miller?
Aruna Miller was born on November 6, 1964, in Hyderabad. But at a very young age, her family moved to the United States. Aruna Miller studied in public schools and became a resident of Poughkeepsie, New York. For her higher education, she opted for a bachelor’s in civil engineering from Missouri University of Science and Technology. Aruna officially got America citizenship in 2000.

Aruna Miller has had a successful career as an engineer. She first started to work as a transportation engineer for local governments in various states like California, Virginia, and Hawaii. She even worked for the Montgomery County Department of Transportation.

Career In Politics
Aruna Miller started her political career in 2010 when she became the representative for District 15 in the Maryland house of delegates. She has held important positions since then in various committees and commissions like the economy, education, healthcare, etc for a period between 2010-2019. In 2018, Aruna Miller was also one of eight candidates to run for Maryland’s 6th Congressional district for Congress. And now, as per some reports, she has been elected to hold the position of Lieutenant Governor of Maryland.
