US Woman Self Isolates For 5 Hours In Flight Washroom After Testing COVID Positive Mid-Flight
I think we always thought that if we were to ever test positive for Covid-19, the plan of action is to self-isolate. That’s what everyone has been doing for the past 2 years. However, has anyone ever thought of what would you do if you got a positive test result while travelling?! I sure hadn’t before I read this news of this US Schoolteacher who self-isolated on a flight restroom after testing positive for Covid-19.
US schoolteacher Marisa Fotieo said on her flight from Chicago to Reykjavik, in Iceland on December 20, felt like her throat was hurting. Using a rapid test with a kit she had on her, Fotieo took a Covid-19 test and was came up positive.
She chose to self-isolate in the aeroplane washroom for the remainder of the flight. A flight attendant provided her with food, water and everything she needed. It wasn’t completely clear if she had to present a Covid-19 test while boarding the plane.

“It was a crazy experience,” Fotieo detailed according to reports, “150 people on the flight and my biggest fear was giving it to them.”
She posted a video on TikTok from the Icelandair jet’s washroom, talking about her crazy Covid-19 flight experience which went viral having been viewed four million times. She was grateful for and praised the flight attendant for her assistance. Marisa Fotieo said, “She made sure I had everything I needed for the next five hours from food to drinks and constantly checked on me assuring me I would be all right.” She has to isolate in a Red Cross hotel after arriving in Iceland.
I honestly don’t know what I would have done in a situation like this. I am just grateful to see people like Marisa Fotieo who take the pandemic this seriously and want to avoid spreading Covid-19, even at the expense of their own comfort. In a world full of anti-maskers and anti-vaccine people, please be a Marisa Fotieo, is all I would say.
