Two Women Fall Off A Swing At 6000 Ft. Fortunately, They Are Safe

Since the pandemic started, I have had far more time to scroll through Instagram. And watching all these adventurous travel videos has me at the edge of my seat. I mean we have all come across these bungee jumping  and swing videos with surreal scenery and those swings positioned right at the edge of a beautiful cliff. Watching these videos have given me so many more things to tick off my bucket list. But sometimes these adventures don’t always turn out the way we want them to. 

Recently, two women – who were enjoying the swings on the top of a 6,000 ft. cliff – had a terrifying experience after they fell off the swing when one of its chains snapped. The swing ride was over the Sulak Canyon, Russian Republic of Dagestan, on the Caspian Sea. 

A video of the incident went viral on social media. The video clearly showed two women swinging and as they headed towards the cliff, their seats tipped over which plunged them off the top of the cliff.

Those two women however were luckily saved by the narrow wooden platform under the edge of the cliff that broke their fall. They were then rescued and pulled to safety by their relatives. The two women survived the accident with just some bruises and scratches. Phew! That’s scary. 

One of the people who were present during the incident said, “The girls got scared and sustained scratches, but neither of them suffered serious injuries. It is chilling to imagine what could have happened if they slipped when the swings were at a maximum height.”

When the news of the incident reached the Ministry of Tourism in Dagestan, they demanded such swings be removed since they didn’t meet the safety standards. The Sulak Canyon is one of the deepest canyons in Europe and so all the safety standards need to be met. The Ministry of Tourism in a statement said, “As a result, the young women fell off the swing seat. Law enforcement agencies and other services are already conducting relevant checks to ensure that nothing threatens lives and health.”
