This Woman From Ukraine Has Not Cut Her Hair Since She Was 5 Years Old And Now It’s 6.5 Feet Long!
Out of all the Disney Princesses, Rapunzel was one of my favourites. As a child, all I wanted were long and golden tresses that would cascade down, just like Rapunzel’s. Of course, I soon realised that it wasn’t possible. Especially not with my curly and frizzy black hair. However, today I stumbled upon something that has left me quite baffled. You see a woman from Ukraine is considered to be a real-life Rapunzel. She hasn’t cut her hair since she was a child and now it’s 6.5 feet long! This has got to be some kind of record. Also, how much shampoo do you think she uses?
35-year-old Alena Kravchenko from Odesa, Ukraine has hair that measures up to 6.5 feet. She hasn’t cut her hair since she was 5 years old because her mother always told her that women should have long hair. Erm, the beauty stereotype aside, this is so bizarre. Alena took her mother’s directions quite literally and to a whole new level. It’s insane that her hair is longer than the average human being.
For the last 30 years, Alena has been nurturing her locks with a simple but painstaking routine. She washes them only once a week, never combs them while they are wet to avoid breakages and does not use any heat. Alena also uses various masks, head massages and rinses her locks in herbs to keep her blonde hair looking shiny. Wow. I can’t even stick to oiling my hair once a week.

Alena said, “I have reached a unique length because my hair is longer than my height and I really like it. I love to stand out from the crowd, I love being compared to a princess because it makes me a unique and unusual person. Men love natural blondes and with this length, I am always the centre of their attention both among locals in my city and on social networks. Many people in the city know me and every time they see me they admire my length and rare golden hair colour. Passers-by ask me if they can take pictures, ask if my hair is real, ask to touch it and often don’t believe their eyes when they see me.”
On her Instagram handle, Alena often features her long blond locks and she has garnered over 57,000 followers. As beautiful as her her tresses are, I still believe a cut is necessary every now and then. But hey, if that’s what makes her feel like a princess what is one person’s opinion? Besides I am sure Alena has broken more than a few world records!
