This Woman From Pune Did A Whole Workout While Wearing A Saree!

Being the lazy bum that I am, it takes a task force to get me to work out. Out of the many things that stop me from working out, lack of motivation tops the list. And not in a saree, for sure. Now, I have read and watched countless videos and books to know why working out is important, but what these videos and books didn’t tell me is how to get motivated to do it! But for those who really want to achieve something, they can do that irrespective of the obstacles they face. Just like this doctor from Pune.

Recently, Dr. Sharvari Imamdar, a resident of Pune city, went viral with her fitness workouts all the while looking like a typical ‘Marathi Mulgi’.  In her videos, she is traditionally dressed from head to toe and is seen doing push-ups, lifts, bicep curls with heavy dumbbells, and many more routines.

In conversation with India Today, Dr. Imamdar spoke about how women are not used to wearing sarees every day but yet, when we celebrate anything in India, we go back to our roots and dress up in traditional Indian attire. And just because a woman is wearing a saree, it does not mean that she cannot look after her body.

She spoke for every household woman who wears a saree: “So, wearing a saree should not be a barrier for any household woman to look after her body. So, that is why I am celebrating womanhood.”

Through her videos, she wishes to encourage women to do weight training, yoga, and other fitness activities that will help them keep themselves fit and healthy. Her videos to say the least have motivated and inspired countless women from households to take care of themselves.

Things like ‘what clothes you wear’ or ‘where one trains’ should not come between you looking after your health. Finding the right motivation and fitness routines, every woman can take out time from their lives to look after themselves and take care of their health, body, and mind.  In a saree or not!
