This Video Of A Bride Teasing The Groom On Stage During The Varmala Ceremony Has Gone Viral

I have always told people that I want a small intimate wedding. But the truth is that I want a big fat Indian wedding, preferably on a beach somewhere. It’s going to be a three-day extravaganza with the best food and top-shelf alcohol. Just daydreaming about it makes me so happy. I think I had a change of heart after writing about numerous Indian weddings that are full of chaos and just the right amount of melodrama. Let me give you an example. A bride played kabaddi on the stage with her husband during the varmala ceremony. It’s hilarious!

The varmala ceremony is one of the most important ceremonies. No wedding is complete without it. Although, no matter which religion you belong to, there is a subtler ceremony that everyone follows where neither the bride nor the groom makes it easy for the other person to make them wear the varmala. And while it’s always fun to watch the groom ducking or the bride being picked by her brothers, the bride we are talking about today took it to a whole new level. As soon as her groom tried to make her wear the garland, she started running all around the stage. It was so amusing.

The video went viral after a Twitter user named Manish Mishra shared it on his handle with a caption that read, “This is actually the scene of Jaimala. But seeing the bride’s action, it seems that she had come with the intention of playing Kabaddi. Thanks to the groom’s friends who helped in getting Jaimaala done finally.”

In the video, you can see the bride and groom holding hands at the start. Then the bride’s sister came to fix the bride’s outfit. And then the bride made the groom wear the garland. But when it was her turn, she started running around the stage and it appeared as if she was trying to play a game of Kabbadi.

The video has so far garnered nearly 20K views, 976 likes and over 300 retweets. It’s extremely funny. I just wish I was there to witness something like this.
