This Uber Driver In London Returned A Woman’s Phone Eight Months After She Dropped It In His Cab

One of my worst fear is leaving my phone in a cab or rickshaw. It’s honestly a traumatic experience that all of us have gone through at least once. I vividly remember the day I lost my phone after dropping it in a rickshaw. Even though I managed to track it down, it gave me a good scare. I got lucky though. Most of the times, if you leave your phone somewhere it’s as good as gone. Today though, we are talking about a woman in London who probably was the luckiest you can get in this situation. You see, an Uber driver returned her lost phone to her eight months after she left it in his cab. Who said all strangers are dangers?

In August 2020 Shay Sade, a broadcaster, left her iPhone 6 in an Uber when she was on her way home after a night out in London. Eight months later, on 30 April, she called for an Uber and the same man came to pick her up. He immediately recognized her and returned her lost phone. Shay took to Twitter and declared that her faith in humanity was restored by this ‘crazy miracle’. If everybody was as honest and kind as this man, the world would be a much better, safer place.

While sharing this tale on a Twitter thread, Shay wrote, “NAHHH I lost my phone over 8 months ago and had no idea what happened to it, it literally vanished. Today I book an Uber and my Uber driver goes “hold on I have something for you” and hands me my lost phone. He said he held onto it in case by chance he picked me up again.”

The Uber driver, who found Shay’s phone in August 2020, has been holding onto it since he didn’t have any means of communication with her. Shay told My London, “I’ve lost things in the past and people have used it or done stuff with it. This is the first time a stranger has done something like this, he didn’t have to, I just thought ‘wow, you’re such a nice human being’. I wanted to do something nice in return, I think it’s good karma and good energy. I just wanted to give him some chocolates or a thank-you card. When somebody steals your phone in London, that’s it. You don’t expect somebody to hand your phone in or keep a hold of it for that long. I honestly thought that if anybody had found it, they would have stolen it, sold it or done something with it.”

Isn’t this the sweetest, most wholesome gesture?
