This Girl Made A Prom Dress Out Of Recycled Empty Dorito Chip Bags. We Love Her Creativity

The entire concept of sustainable fashion has always fascinated me. Repurposing and reusing old clothes and materials to ensure minimal usage of environmental resources. It’s a concept that is quickly taking over the fashion world and rightly so. On a micro level though, a lot of us aren’t conscious of how sustainable the brand we are wearing is or how environmentally friendly our outfit is but it’s important we know the importance of sustainable fashion. And we can learn a lot from this girl who fashioned an entire gown and an umbrella from recycled plastic Dorito bags. Yep, you read that correctly. Of course, she took the entire concept to a whole new level but her idea behind it is on point. However, we can all agree that it’s more than a little bizarre.

This girl took to Reddit to share a picture of herself wearing the Dorito dress and holding the umbrella. It’s literally made from empty plastic bags of Nacho Cheese flavoured Dorito chips. Along with the photo, the girl said that she made this prom dress from recycled Dorito bags from her school’s cafeteria. While we admire her intent of trying to reuse the plastic bags and her creativity, can you imagine what wearing this dress for a long time would do to your skin? Also, how would one sit while wearing it? Although, if she ever wants to sell this dress and the umbrella I am sure Lady Gaga would be more than happy to take it off her hands.

In her post, the girl explained that she made this dress two years ago to wear to her prom. However, even though she didn’t end up wearing the Dorito dress she did receive an award for designing it. She said, “Sorry to disappoint, but I didn’t actually end up wearing it to prom. It was relatively fragile (and so ungodly loud) and I like to dance too much. I displayed it as an art piece instead and won a scholastic award.”

I genuinely love everything about this Dorito dress. It’s creative, bizarre and is made of plastic that would otherwise be dumped in an ocean somewhere. It’s absolutely brilliant because it’s nacho ordinary dress! (Get it, get it?)
