Shafali Verma Adds A New Record To Her Name As She Becomes The Youngest Female Player To Score 1000 T20 Runs

When I was 18 years old, the only thing, sadly, that mattered for me was scoring good marks in my higher secondary school. So, of course, I could get into a good college, and make a career out of it. Well some of us are like me I believe, however, we do make a place for ourselves in the world. And then we have extraordinary women who are achieving heights, making records at the age of 18. And to add to this list is the youngest cricketer Shafali Verma. The player has yet again proved that age is never the limit to judge capabilities and potential. In the ongoing, Women Asia Cup 2022, Shafali Verma set a new record of completing 1000 T20 runs and become the youngest woman player to do so.

On October 8, Saturday, in a match between India and Bangladesh, the former chose to bat first after winning the toss. The match was started by the amazing partnership of the openers Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma. In just 44 balls, Shafali scored 55 runs. With this, the young cricketer made her 1000 runs in T20 and surpassed the record set by our country’s other player, Jemimah Rodrigues. Now Jemimah had set the record when she was 21 years old, Shafali beat her to achieve this at the age of 18. Shafali’s list of records has more to it, as she also became the first player now to have made 1000 runs at a more early stage in her T20 career. This title was earlier held by the Australian cricketer Meg Lanning, as per the news.

Our Indian women players are performing excellently on the field, and these individual achievements are just proof. Also, it is personally quite inspiring to see women achieve their dreams and milestones at such a young age. These examples should just make us realise how hard work and determination will get us there.
