Twitter Is Full Of Pride After PV Sindhu Wins Gold In CWG 2022 Against Canada’s Michelle Li
After defeating Canada’s Michelle Li on Monday, India’s top badminton player PV Sindhu won the nation’s 19th gold medal at the current Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham. The 27-year-old defeated Michelle Li in the women’s singles final 21-15, 21-13 to win the match and another medal at the prestigious quadrennial sporting event. During Game 1 of the gold medal match, Sindhu originally appeared to be having trouble with an injury, but she kept up her winning streak and took the lead with a score of 21-15.
She continued on to win Game 2 by a score of 21-13 to finish the triumph in one set. With Sindhu’s victory, India currently has 56 total medals from the CWG 2022, including 19 gold, 15 silver, and 22 bronze. In badminton, India hopes to win two further gold medals on the final day of CWG 2022.

The 27-year-old also defeated Singapore’s Jia Min Yeo 21-19, 21-17 in the women’s singles badminton semi-final at CWG 2022 in Birmingham, guaranteeing herself a medal. It is important to note that this was PV Sindhu’s second Commonwealth Games gold medal. PV Sindhu earned a gold medal in the mixed team competition at the Gold Coast CWG 2018 as well as a silver medal in the women’s singles competition.
Before winning the 2022 Swiss Open, Sindhu started her 2022 campaign with a title triumph in the Syed Modi International in India. With a victory over Asian Champion Wang Zhiyi in the summit match, Sindhu won her first Singapore Open title before competing in the Commonwealth Games 2022. She subsequently won the silver medal in Birmingham’s Mixed Team badminton competition to begin her CWG 2022 campaign before taking home the gold in the Women’s Singles.
