Muslim Boys Support Girls’ Right To Wear Hijab Amidst Hijab Row

When it comes to women’s clothing, I hate the fact that society thinks it is okay to comment on it and dictate what they can and cannot wear. Whether it is full-grown women or school-going girls, women cannot escape the comments that come on their company. Yep, I’m referring to the news that came from Karnataka where a government college – PU college – denied girl students wearing hijabs to enter the college premises just 2 months before their exams. The video from the incident has gone viral and many have come out in support of it. But more than anyone else, I’m happy about one particular thing.

Well, from all those who showed and lent their support to the girl students, were some Muslim boys as well who sat down outside Karnataka’s government college – PU college – in solidarity with the girl students.

The reports suggest that students of Karnataka’s government college who are between the ages of 18 to 20 have demanded to know as to why the hijab was banned suddenly even after the college rules allow it. The rules of the college state, “Girl students are permitted to wear the scarf inside the campus, however, the colour of the scarf should match with the dupatta, and no student is allowed to wear any other cloth inside the campus including the college canteen.”

It is so stupid that women are criticised for wearing clothes that cover them up and for the clothes that don’t. And the woman is her own person and she can decide what she wants to wear and when she wants to wear it.
