Madras High Court Investigates Lawyer Caught In A Compromising Position With A Woman
I feel like it is a fair assumption that we have all had quite a few mishaps while working from home these past 2 years. It is very difficult to navigate and draw the boundary between work and personal life. However, while many of us can laugh these incidents off, for many, the consequences are direr. This can be seen in the case of this advocate of the Madras High Court who was caught in a compromising position with a woman during a virtual court hearing.
Santhana Krishnan who is a Chennai-based advocate of the Madras High Court was caught in an intimate position during a virtual hearing on Monday. The court has now started a probe and contempt hearings against the lawyer. This incident happened in Justice Ilanthiraiyan’s and an advocate who appeared for the hearing was found in a compromising position. The video went viral and the bench of Justice Prakash and Hemalatha started a suo motu court proceeding (case taken up by court voluntarily without an individual’s complaint.) The Madras HC also ordered a CBCID enquiry as this violates the IT Act. The Bar Council of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry have suspended him from practising law in any court, according to reports.

To be honest, I am not even certain what commentary to give on this one. I simply don’t understand the reasoning or logic behind what Santhana Krishnan did. Being a lawyer himself, I would assume he would know the law, moreover how this would not be tolerated by the Madras HC. however, isn’t it common sense to know how to conduct yourself in a formal and public setting, I would assume? Clearly, common sense isn’t as common anymore.
