UP Lineman Sets Himself On Fire After Jr. Engineer Asks To “Send Wife” In Exchange For Halting Transfer
You know, I feel like we are lying to ourselves as we openly talk about women’s empowerment and how women are the epitome of strength, and power. When in reality, we treat women as mere objects. Recently, a power lineman set himself on fire after Junior Engineer allegedly harassed him and asked him to send his wife in exchange for halting his transfer. This is so sad and gruesome!
The incident took place in Lakhimpur Kher5, Uttar Pradesh. A lineman who used to work at the Palia power station died after he set himself on fire. In a video, the lineman named Gokul Prasad accused a junior engineer (JE) of harassment and mentioned that he was demanding sexual favours from his wife for halting his transfer. According to the reports, he had filed a complaint at the police station but they did not take any action against the accused engineer. “A lineman who immolated himself died during treatment in Lucknow. A video recorded by the lineman has surfaced in which he was levelling allegations against a senior,” SSP Sanjeev Suman told the media.

The 45-year-old lineman who was working in the power department for the past 22 years. He was transferred many times in the last three years. His wife mentioned that he was upset after he was transferred to Mahhapur, Aliganj, and then to Gola. After that, he asked his superior to give him a posting in Palia but was shocked when he asked him to send his wife to spend a night with him. After the incident, he was taken to a medical facility in Lucknow where he passed away.

According to the reports, the Junior Engineer named Nagendra Kumar and a clerk have been suspended and Police have registered a case.
