We can spend hours watching those cute dog reels on Instagram, right? It is so heartwarming to see these dogs bond with their pet parents and add laughter to their lives. Undoubtedly, a dog is the best companion for humans as they don’t demand anything and shower love on you selflessly but there are a set of certain responsibilities that you have towards them too! All I mean is that it is not always fun to be a dog parent and there are times when you might feel irritated too, but well, always remember that they are a part of your family. On this International Dog Day, let me give you a list of all the things to take note of before you finally decide to become a paw parent!

Vaccinations

As a paw parent, it is important to make sure that your dog is vaccinated properly. Now this needs two things- money and time. Vaccinations for dogs can be expensive and as a pet parent, you should not be ignorant of their vaccination dates, similar to that of a baby! By doing this, your dog stays healthy and everyone around you stays safe too!

Periods

If you are adopting a female dog, let me tell you that they have periods too! Till you get your dog operated, you have to take care of their periods which can last up to 15-20 days.

Understand Their Mood Swings!

Dogs will always not be happy. They too have their bad days. Be patient with them and try to understand their discomforts. Take notes of their behaviour changes and food patterns too.

Food And Diet

Along with dog foods, it is important to add protein to their diet too. Meat and eggs are a good source of protein. Learn more about what you can feed your dogs and what can be harmful to their health.

Expenses

Keeping a pet dog can be expensive because there are many things to take care of. Their food, vaccines, checkups, toys and everything can be quite costly. So before becoming a paw parent, keep in mind the financial aspects of it too! Commit only if you can!

So I hope you have gotten an overall idea about the responsibilities you should be prepared for as a paw parent. Also, if you are already a pet parent, go wish your dog a “Happy Dog Day” and give them cute kisses. Mine does not like to cuddle, so maybe I will just irritate her!
