International Dance Day 2022 History And Significance
International Dance Day globally recognises this art form and this day was created by the Dance Committee of the International Theatre Institute, which is UNESCO’s main partner for performing arts. This day was first observed in 1982 and is commemorated to remember Jean-Georges Noverre who was born on April 29. Noverre was a French dancer who is considered the father of modern ballet.
The day is also observed to encourage people to participate in dance activities and also pursue their passion in the art form. It also aims to bring people together through different forms. Several cultural events are organised around the world so that people forget their differences and come together to celebrate dance.
The global scale celebration of this day sees the International Theatre Institute inviting its members, choreographers and dancers for a gala. Each year, a message author is chosen to give out a message is given by them who sheds light on the importance and relevance of dance.
