Influencer Diipa Khosla Added Breast Pumps On Her Cannes Film Festival Outfit And She Has A Message

In my short time of writing about women’s problems, I learned that we only have an illusion of autonomy. In actuality, all our decisions and all our choices are made for us. From the basics like our clothes to something as complex as motherhood, we’re just expected to do certain things like breastfeeding, for instance. This brings me to my point. Why are the women who don’t breastfeed their children judged so harshly? Is it not a woman’s personal choice? Maybe she can’t because of a medical reason, who knows? Whatever may be the reason, it’s not something that is up for debate. We aren’t the only ones who believe that. This is the point influencer Diipa Khosla was trying to make when she added breast pumps to her outfit for the Cannes Film Festival. From the ensemble to the statement it made, we love everything about it.

For all those of you who are living under a rock, with a following of 1.4 million people, Diipa Khosla is one of the biggest fashion and travel influencers. She is married to Oleg Buller and the couple welcomed their first child earlier this year. Talking about her breast pump outfit, Diipa posted a rather heartfelt and strong-worded post on Instagram. In it, she said that she chose to make a dramatic statement about breastfeeding and motherhood after she received countless messages from people who questioned and judged her decisions as a mother.

Her Instagram post read, “Whether I choose to breastfeed my daughter or not, should not be the subject of anybody’s conversation. There are countless concerns that go into breastfeeding, it simply doesn’t work for all mothers, something that no mother should be judged for online or off. In response to the frequently asked question, I’ve decided on supplementing at this stage (a combination of both breastfeeding and using a formula). Moreover, while I’m away for a two-day business trip, I prepared for my absence by breast-pumping multiple times prior to my departure.”

Diipa further added that there is, “no rule book to motherhood,” and, that “it takes experience and learning to understand the ins and outs of what is appropriate for YOU as a mother and not anybody else. Being a new mom holds enough self-judgment as there is constant worry if your actions are right.”

Reminding everyone that online personalities and celebrities are humans too, Diipa said, “Being a mother does NOT mean that you are now the target to everybody and anybody’s scrutiny. I kindly ask that you withhold judgmental remarks regarding any mother who is on this beautiful journey of motherhood. As much as the concern is appreciated, it is a personal journey between mother and child and should be treated as such.”

Needless to say, her post and her outfit have gone viral. We are so glad that someone with this kind of influence used one of the world’s largest fashion events to make a statement about this. It needed to be said. You can’t assassinate a mother’s character by the choices she makes. Our society really needs to learn the definition of personal choice.
