Indian Medical Student Refuses To Be Evacuated From Ukraine, Says Will Take Care Of Landlord’s Family As He Joins War

Certain situations in our lives call for us to make difficult or dangerous decisions that may seem bizarre to other people. We take such decisions for our family, friends, country or even total strangers and it can impact our lives and the lives of those around us. Recently, an Indian student stuck in Ukraine refused to leave the war-torn nation because she wants to take care of the landlord’s wife and children after he voluntarily joined the military to fight against Russia. 

After Russia declared war against Ukraine, many people are trying to flee the war-torn country but according to a Facebook post that is going viral on the internet, a girl from Haryana wants to stay in the country to take care of her landlord’s family. The girl is currently living in a bunker in Ukraine with the landlord’s wife and three children. A 17-year-old Indian student named Neha got admission into the MBBS programme of a Ukrainian college before the Russia-Ukraine conflict. She rented a room at the home of the Ukrainian family in Kyiv because she couldn’t find any hostel accommodation. Savita Jakhar who shared the Facebook post is a close friend of the student’s mother said that Neha got attached to the three children of the landlord who is a construction engineer but voluntarily joined the military to fight against the Russian army.

After the announcement of the war, the Indian citizens got advisories to leave the nation immediately and Neha’s mother made many efforts to evacuate her and even made arrangements so that she could move to Romania. But the student refused to leave the family in this dangerous situation and decided to stay there until the war ends. “I may live or not, but I will not leave these children and their mother in such a situation,” the student told her mother.

Savita mentioned that she’s wondering what is encouraging that 17 year old to stand with that family in such difficult times in her post.
