‘Hautesteppers 3.0′ Ep7: Mayanti Langer Reveals Trolls Asked Her To Commit Suicide After Her Husband’s Bad Performance On Field
In India, journalism is still considered to be a man’s job. There is a stereotypical notion among people, that women will not be able to take up hard-core journalism as a career option. However, this mindset has been proven wrong on several occasions by women. Sports journalism is not prevalent in our country, nevertheless, women in this area also have created a mark already. One such great example is Mayanti Langer. A sports journalist who has hosted world cups and uncountable cricket matches. However, no matter what heights she achieved, she still had to encounter conservative ideas and thoughts. In a recent interview with Hauterrfly, Mayanti Langer talked about one aspect of his encounter which was the blames she received for the poor on-field performance of her husband, Stuart Binny.

It has often been seen, particularly in recent years, that some cricket fans are quick enough to blame the wife for their husband’s bad form. Even Mayanti Langer was a target of this. In the interview, Mayanti Langer shares the first meeting with Stuart Binny which happened to be during an interview with him. Stuart Binny is a well-known Indian cricket player. Mayanti clearly stated that she was a target for her husband’s bad performances. The journalist then goes on to share an incident that happened during a match against West Indies. Mayanti said that she hosted the match while her husband was also playing it. She then says that Stuart Binny was hit by many sixes that day and it did not turn out to be a good day for him. Mayanti Langer further revealed that she did expect an unfavorable outcome after this but not to the extent of people wanting her to commit suicide. In fact, some of these trolls also asked her to divorce her husband.

However, Manti Langer did not let her relationship be affected by this and instead gave a strong response to the faceless people. Mayanti Langer said that it was the first time when she hit back at the trolls because she really wanted to say something. Mayanti also gives her opinion on a person’s relationship with social media and says it is very important to get it right. She clearly states that after this incident, she realised that her relationship with the trollers, was of “give and take”.
