As per media reports, Kshama Bindu faced several problems with regards to her sologamy act after she went public with it. First she had to change her wedding venue after a local BJP leader threatened to take action against her for marrying herself in a temple. The 24-year-old agreed to change the venue as she did not want to hurt anyone’s religious sentiments but soon after the priest who was going to chant mantras for her wedding also backed out after which she decided to play the mantras on a tape.

According to the latest report by Times Of India, Kshama Bindu had her wedding ceremony on Wednesday and told the news portal that she is “very happy to finally be a married woman”. She looked stunning in her red bridal look paired with a mangalsutra and sindoor and her wedding ceremony had it all, from the pheras to the sindoor ceremony! Speaking further the glowing bride told TOI that unlike other brides she will not have to leave her home after the wedding. She added that her big day had to be an intimate ceremony with just 10 of her friends and colleagues. The 24-year-old who identifies as bi-gender is probably the first woman in India to opt for sologamy. And get this, this kickass bride also held a mehendi and haldi ceremony but had to be careful as the neighbours objected to the visitors coming to their place.

She also spoke about wanting to have her wedding in a temple while adding that she had to change the venue in order to avoid any further trouble or controversy.

One of Kshama’s friends told TOI that she admires her for her “bold and unique move” while adding that she married herself despite all the pressure and set an example for those who want to opt for sologamy. At the wedding function, Kshama took pheras and made 7 vows to herself including the promise to keep herself happy all her life. The bride, who works at a private firm, held post-wedding celebrations where she and her guests grooved to several dance numbers and also did garba.
