NCRB Data Ranks Delhi As The Most Unsafe City For Women, Followed By Two Major Cities.
The report has brought to light nothing new or surprising, however, it is sad to see that the condition every year instead of getting better is just declining. Women’s safety has become one of the significant issues in India but the efforts to restore it are not really in sync with the crimes happening against women. The latest reports by the National Crimes Records Bureau (NCRB) have revealed some shocking and distressing data about the crimes against women happening particularly in Delhi which has been ranked as the most unsafe city for women. The next two major cities in the ranking table also paint a disturbing picture of the country.
The NCRB data shows that crimes against women in Delhi drastically increased last year in comparison to other cities in India. Out of 43,414 overall crimes against women reported in 19 cities in India, Delhi itself covered 13,982 cases. As per the reports, Delhi witnessed a rise in crimes such as kidnapping, rape cases of minors, and domestic violence in the year 2021. The most shocking data revealed by the report was that the last year in the nation’s capital at least two girls were raped every day. As compared to other big cities in India, the number of girl child rapes and POCSO cases were also reported more in Delhi, the previous year, as per the sources.

The reports suggest that In 19 cities, Mumbai and Bengaluru accounted for 12.76% and 7.2% of total crimes, respectively.
