Couple Got Married In Under Rs. 500. It’s Proof That Weddings Can Be Small And Wonderful

I am not someone who wants a grand wedding with several hundred guests. I want to get married with a few people I love. Sure, the pandemic is working in my favour. I find it taxing. Firstly, I can’t afford a grand wedding. Secondly, I wouldn’t find spending a huge chunk of my parents’ savings on one day. It’s a special day undoubtedly but I don’t want to feel broke AF. And on top of that, my stage fear and social anxiety will just make me look pale in every picture. Isn’t it beautiful to have like an intimate wedding with just your loved ones? That’s how I like it. This couple, however, had it so intimate, they got married in under Rs. 500.

According to an IANS report, a couple had a court wedding, spending a negligible amount on it. The bride Shivangi Joshi is the city magistrate of Dhar, Madhya Pradesh and the groom Aniket Chaturvedi is a Major in the Indian Army. They are both originally from Bhopal but he is currently posted in Ladakh.

The couple’s wedding kept on getting postponed time and again due to the pandemic, even though it was fixed two years ago. Eventually, they decided to get married at a court to avoid more delay. They said that having a lavish wedding burdens the girl’s family. It won’t if the cost is shared by the groom’s and the bride’s families. Gone are the days when the girl’s family paid the cost. After their court marriage, the couple went to Dhareshwar temple and sought blessings from Lord Dharnath.

Small weddings are sweet. Grand weddings can be fun too. Point is that everyone should be able to decide the kind of wedding they want, without feeling a burden from society. It’s your day, celebrate it the way you like! After all, you get married only once. Or something like that.
