14-Year-Old Anahat Singh Marks Her Glorious Commonwealth Debut With A Thumping Win, Receives Warm Hug From Opponent
The world has its eyes on this year’s Commonwealth games, as India’s glorious athletes earn medals, each passing day. And a new update from the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, has arrived from the squash court, as 14-year-old Anahat Singh makes her sensational debut at the tournament. The youngest member of the India contingent, Anahat made headlines with a shining 3-0 win over St Vincent’s Jada Ross, in the women’s singles squash, Round of 64.

While India seemed overjoyed knowing the news of her win, what melted our hearts was this special video. In the clip, we spotted the 14-year-old receiving a warm hug from her opponent Jada Ross, as the match reached its end. She also received a huge round of applause from the attendees’ at the University Show Court in Birmingham.

The glorious win has now led Anahat to the Round of 32. She will now play against Wales’ popular squash player–Emily Whitlock. The youngest member was welcomed into this year’s contingent, after her impressive play at the U-15 level. The tournament also marks her first at the senior level. The 14-year-old athlete has also earned the position of being the German Open champion this year.

Apart from Anahat, boxer Lovlina Borgohain and weightlifter Mirabai Chanu also opened their campaigns at this year’s games on Day 2. In the women’s hockey tournament, India won over Ghana with a score of 5-0.
