BCCI Announces Women And Men Cricketers Will Receive Equal Match Fee. A Historic Step Towards Gender Equality!
We know that a lot of people will not agree when we will say that female athletes face more issues than male athletes and no, we are not talking about their physical health. Now, it’s a no-brainer that female athletes are being paid half or less of what is given to their male counterparts and that’s why there is a huge difference between the incomes of male and female athletes (not everything is about passion and dreams, TBH). Well, speaking of sports, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) recently announced that women and men cricketers will receive equal pay in terms of match fees. This is a huge step towards gender equality!

On Thursday, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) made a big announcement and took a historic step towards gender equality. In a tweet, BCCI secretary Jay Shah mentioned that the contracted senior women’s cricketers will earn equal match fees as their male counterparts. The landmark decision was made to bring women cricketers on par with men.
After the announcement, many people are praising Jay Shah for taking such an amazing decision, they are quite happy over the fact that women in blue will earn the same fees as men in blue.

Many cricket lovers started showing interest in Indian women’s cricket after the women in blue finished runners-up in the 2017 ICC Women’s World Cup. The team also made the country proud by reaching the final of the T20 World Cup in the year 2020 and bagging the silver medal in the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
