Alia’s Kalank Look Is Out And The Resemblance To Deepika’s Padmaavat Character Is Uncanny

This is an interesting year for Bollywood. The year that has some very cash cow kind of releases lined up. One of the most looked forward to this year is Abhishek Varman’s ‘Kalank’. It has Alia Bhatt, Sonakshi Sina, Madhuri Dixit, Varun Dhavan and more. Basically, a stellar cast.

The main characters of the movie are being introduced to the fans by way of releasing individual posters that tell us a little something about their personalities in reel life. We saw Varun Dhawan, Aditya Roy Kapoor and Sanjay Dutt’s looks were revealed yesterday and aptly, Alia Bhatt’s character, Roop‘s first look was released today.What with it being Women’s Day and all and they are using the hashtag #WomenOfKalank. When Roop was introduced, our first thought was, ‘Wow, that’s pretty’ followed immediately with a moment of deja vu. Wait, isn’t this uncannily similar to how Deepika Padukone looked in Padmaavat?

The colours, the vibe, even the jewellery. So same. First of all, they need to stop making us feel so inadequate with all that finery. And those ornate lehengas. Alia is shown behind a veil, replete with heavy kundan jewellery, a bindi, mathapatti and a nath. Even that expression, calm and poised is exactly like Deepika’s when she was playing the role of Rani Padmaavati.

Naturally, our impish minds didn’t stop there. We wonder how lately, the two actresses have been sharing too much. Be it the coffee couch, the kinds of roles they are playing or the men they’re with. *evil grin *

Either way, we’re glued to our screens to find out more about Alia Bhatt’s character, who is rumoured to be playing either a princess or a member of a royal family who, in words of the Kalank team, is “free and bound only by love”.
