A Viral Video Featuring A Woman Playing And Cuddling With A Gigantic Lizard Is Just The Weirdest Thing
I am not afraid of many things but I do have pet peeves. One of my biggest pet peeves is creepy crawlies. I just can’t stand the sight of them and I’ve never understood those who can. When I was younger, a lizard crawled up my leg while I was sleeping. I woke up shrieking so loud that my parents thought there was a burglar in our house. Ever since that incident, the mere sight of lizards gives me the shudders. And so, when I watched a viral video of a woman caressing and playing with an enormous lizard, I was a little taken aback. Am I the only one that is creeped out?
In this video that I stumbled upon, a woman, clearly a well-trained professional, is holding a huge blackish lizard like a baby and playing with it. The lizard too seems comfortable and well, happy as it cuddles with her. She explains that the reptile is a Philippines water monitor and that he is a “sweetheart” and that they get along very well. Can you imagine being friends with a gigantic lizard?

This woman explains, “He is just a sweetheart, he’s the one that we get along very well.” This video was shared by an Instagram account called thereptilezoo. It was captioned, ”We love this big teddy bear.”
Since the video has been shared, it has garnered more than 20,000 likes and hundreds of comments. Most of these are from netizens who are as shocked as I was when I first saw the video. One person wrote, “So he couldn’t just snap and take a chunk out of your neck?”, while another commented, ”When I lived in Guam, one time when I was running one of those came out of the jungle and chased me LOL those things are fast.”
I am terrified of the tiny lizard that crawls around outside my window. If I saw one as huge as this somewhere, I’d run for my life.
