A Man Got So Mad About His Daughter’s Wedding List, He Set Fire To His Wife And Daughter

When my sister got married, I realized that behind all the beautiful wedding pictures and videos, there was an intricate plan that had to be set into motion and looked at every step of the way. From the color theme to the food to the dresses, and the guest list at the wedding – there are a ton of things that need to be decided. And seeing all that, I can honestly say that a simple disagreement can easily turn into a full-blown argument under all that pressure. And with weddings going on in full swing all over the country, there is definitely some or the other incident that is waiting to happen.

Recently, a man from Uttar Pradesh poured petrol over his wife and daughter in their sleep and set them on fire. The woman died and the daughter is suffering from critical burn injuries. The reason for doing so is that they had a disagreement over the wedding guest list. It sounds so silly and yet, women are subject to these crimes almost every day.

The incident took place in the Lilauli area on Sunday where the husband, Phoolchandra is absconding from the police. Circle office of Jafarganj, Dinesh Chandra Mishra said that both – the wife Sushila and daughter Guddan – were fast asleep when Phoolchandra sprinkled petrol and set them on fire. They were then rushed to the hospital, but Sushila didn’t survive and Guddan is critical. When speaking to the locals, the police discovered that the three of them had a heated argument over the wedding guest list for their younger daughter’s wedding.

While wedding planning can lead to a ton of disagreements, taking anyone’s life over it doesn’t really solve anything. I truly believe that those who are getting married should have the most important say in who should be coming to the wedding. Because at the end of the day, it is the couple’s decision. I also believe that calling hundreds of people at a wedding should not be a compulsion. A small intimate wedding is as sacred as a big-fat Indian wedding.
