A shocking case of a 50-year-old woman being shot dead in Uttar Pradesh’s Sidhharthnagar district has come to light. The woman was apparently trying to save her son from being carried away by the police and that is when the police officers opened fire on her. She died on the spot.
As per reports, the deceased is a woman named Roshni who lived with her two sons, a daughter and her husband Akbar Ali in the Kodragrant village at Tola Isamnagar. Atirqur Rehman, one of Roshni’s sons said that around 15-20 police officers reached their home on May 14, Saturday. They had come to take his brother Abdul Rehman into custody. But when his mother Roshni tried to interfere and save his son from being taken away, the police opened fire in which she fell prey to a bullet and died on the spot.
Roshni took a bullet in her back and her family took her to a medical college but was declared dead. Post this incident, tension has gripped the villager and a huge police force has been sent to the village to maintain peace. The village’s boundaries were also sealed. Protests also erupted in the village due to which the post mortem of the deceased also could not be done. The police did take away Abdul Rehman with them despite protests from the villagers.
The local sources have stated that the police were looking for a criminal and a couple of people were already taken into custody. In their hunt to nab the criminal, the police had also raided Roshni’s village. It is also reported that the family was busy with Roshni’s daughter’s wedding preparations. More details on the case are awaited.
