5 Thoughts I Had While Watching Muskurayega India. One Of Them Is Definitely About How Uplifting It Is.

We are living under, what can only be called, the worst of circumstances. It genuinely feels like someone has pressed the pause button on our lives. I think it is safe to say that coronavirus is the supervillain that we need to fight but this lockdown has got all our collective morale in the gutter.

However, it seems like Akshay Kumar had the perfect solution to fill us all with positivity and joy. He released a song called Muskurayega India and it has me swaying to its tune. This song is about hope and it is reminding us that if we fight the coronavirus, despite all the uncertainty we are feeling right now, life will return to normal.

Here are five thoughts I had while watching the video.
PS: brace yourself for you are about to feel seriously patriotic suddenly. Watch the video before you go on.

  1. I have lost count of how many days I have spent locked up at home and it’s starting to feel a little suffocating. That is why I loved this song so much. It is such an uplifting song, perfect for the days we are feeling blue and aimless. Also, if you notice they have shown the parts of our ever-buzzing city, all quiet and deserted because of the lockdown. But that the same time, they have shown us Mumbai from before the lockdown as sort of a reminder to be hopeful. I love that.

  1. I am not kidding, every time they showed a cop holding those signs, my heart sank a little. The first one was obviously the most hard-hitting, the policeman holding a sign that read “I have a three-year-old daughter” and then comes the sign that reads “but we can’t go home”. When times are so bad, we really need to look out for the people working day and night for us.
That is one of the themes in this song and it’s very important that we support them. Instead of misbehaving and acting like uncivilized idiots throwing temper tantrums, let’s cooperate and help them help us so, at the end of the day, we can all safely go out of our homes.
  1. I think the celebrities in this video need a round of applause. Muskurayega India is an initiative by Akshay Kumar’s Cape of Good Films and Jackky Bhagnani’s Jjust Music. Every celebrity in this video from Aayshmann Khurana to Ananya Panday has shot the video in their own homes. When I read this fact the first thought that came to mind is, damn they have nice homes.
Jokes apart, this “song of hope” is a fabulous song and it is filled with so much positivity that it actually might help us sail through.

  1. Did anyone else feel a strong sense of patriotism in this song? Obviously, that is the feeling the makers were going for and they really came through. I felt a strong sense of patriotism rushing through me, especially when all of them salute and the song closes on the montage of our flag. This song made me want to do more to ensure that we do emerge victorious in our fight against corona.
  1. I am going to go out on a limb here and say that we really needed a song like this one. The basic message of the song is unity and god knows we could use more of that. These are tough times and after I heard this song, it eliminated some of the hopelessness I was feeling. Which is why I think it was a much-needed initiative.
