5 Books With Queer Love Stories That’ll Make Your Heart Go Mush!

The month of June is here and let me remind you that it is more fondly called Pride Month as well. Now, if you have been reading my articles, you would know that I am an avid reader and also that I prefer books over the human company. In my defence, people will begin to bore you but good books will never! My goal for this year is to read 55 books and I already have read 34 so far. *giving myself a pat on the back*

Of these books, some of them revolve around LQBTAIA+characters falling in love. Oh, how much I have enjoyed reading such books! The character arc, the chemistry between the characters, the plot, uff… just mind-blowing! So, in view of Pride Month, and without further ado, I have come bearing a list of books that have LGBTQIA+ characters in the spotlight.

Books With LQBTQIA+ Characters

Red White And Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston

I will never stop talking about or recommending this one. It is my utmost favourite of all the books with queer representation I have ever read. Might I add, it was also the first one of the lot and hence, holds a special place in my heart! The plot revolves around Alex, the son of the United States’ first lady president and Britain’s Prince Henry. Starting off as enemies, they fall for each other so hard and fast that there is no going back! But how will their families react when they learn that their relationship is not platonic? Read to find out!

The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller

If there is a book I will reread just for it to break my heart into a million pieces again, this will be it. I had stared at the wall for good five minutes after I finished reading The Song of Achilles because what I had read reverberated deep inside my heart. The plot follows the Greek mythical story of Achilles and Patroclus who fall in love with each other despite the odds being against them. But their union is not accepted and an impending war looms over their heads. The dialogues had my heart in this one. Definitely a must-read!

The Seven Husbands Of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid

If there is an auto-buy author for me, it is Taylor Jenkins Reid. This woman toys with emotions like a baby does with a rattle and there is literally nothing you can do about it. In this book, the main character Evelyn Hugo, a yesteryear bombshell wants Monique Grant, a not-so-forth-coming-writer to uncover her secret to the world that she is bisexual. In the process of telling this tale, Monique learns a truth so harsh, that it makes her question all of her reality.

Under The Whispering Door by TJ Klune

My, oh my, this author! The father of the found family trope and the one who writes such beautiful stories that would make you wish you were living in his fictional world. Under The Whispering Door is a story about Wallace, who yet cannot believe he is dead when a reaper comes to take his soul. When they reach Hugo’s tea shop, where the Whispering Door lies that allows souls to cross over into another realm, Wallace decides he wants to live a life he never had when he was alive. Hugo being alive and Wallace being dead, sparks still fly between them but how will they work things together? It is worth reading to find out!

Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo

The Queen of Grishaverse, Leigh Bardugo’s Six Of Crows duology is a mad, fun and wile ride on an impossible heist that six social outcasts decide to pull off. It has the perfect amount of thrill, romance and humour that it is impossible to put down without finishing it. Oh, the fun relationship between Jesper Fahey and Wylan Van Eck has my heart!
