25-Year-Old Woman Gang-Raped In Rishikesh Drug Rehabilitation Centre. Is There Any Place A Woman Can Be Safe?

These days when we open the newspaper or even read news online, somewhere we always come across news articles about rape cases. There never will go a day by when we do not read news about this heinous crime taking place in the most absurd and shocking places ever! Today was yet another day when we read about a gang rape case that took place at a rehabilitation centre in Rishikesh.

As per a report by The Free Press Journal, the victim was a 25-year-old girl was from Haridwar. She has alleged that she was gang-raped by two men at a drug rehabilitation centre in Rishikesh. She also claimed that the woman who was in charge of the centre also was involved in this crime. In her police complaint, the victim claimed that the woman who ran the drug rehabilitation centre, instead of helping her against the men, took obscene videos and photos of the act.

The lady also threatened the victim to upload them on social media. The girl went on to say that the perpetrators used the videos and pictures to blackmail her and they sent her out of town to force her into prostitution. Further, the girl said that the men gave her something drink which was spiked with sedatives. The criminals, then, raped her when she was in an intoxicated state.

A complaint against the men has been filed in Kotwali police station, while the police have also called in the rehabilitation centre’s operator for questioning. The girl also wrote a letter to the SSP and pleaded that she gets justice. It is also reported that the crime took place a month ago and both the accused men are absconding. An investigation has been launched in the case.
