Only a few days after the US Supreme Court overturned Roe v Wade, the world is already witnessing its worst consequences. The Supreme Court’s decision on June 24 to overturn Roe V Wade, which granted US women the right to abortion, sparked widespread outrage. The fear that many Republican states would immediately ban abortions has come true. In a very shocking case from Ohio, a 10-year-old was denied abortion in her own state and had to move to another state for the procedure. The 10-year-old sexual abuse victim did not receive any mercy.
Adhering to its strict abortion laws, the state of Ohio put a ban on abortions after 6-weeks. The ban did not give any relief to the sexual abuse or rape victims. A 10-year-old is currently facing the dire consequences of this judgement and the news has sent shock waves to the world. As per sources, the minor was forced to travel to Indiana, which still has not put any kind of ban on abortions yet, however, there are speculations that by the end of the month, the restrictions shall come into force. According to the news, an obstetrician-gynecologist in Indiana, Dr. Caitlin Bernard, received an inquiry from a child abuse doctor in Ohio about a 10-year-old who was six weeks and three days pregnant.
According to the Guardian, doctors like Dr. Bernard have reported that many such victims from neighbouring states where abortion procedures have been banned are visiting Indiana for treatment. However, the case of the 10-year-old child has evidently become the worst consequence of taking away the abortion rights of women, including rape and sexual abuse victims.
