Urfi Javed has become a household name in fashion that is risqué. Redefining sartorial risks, Urfi is often attached to trolls, memes and irrelevant comments, that bring us back to people’s opinion of “what should women wear?” Something I hope we’re not aiming at, in 2022. Not just the commoners, but Urfi has been mercilessly mocked and schooled by celebrities like Farah Khan Ali and Kashmeera Shah for her outfit choices. And while we all have been vocal about our take on every piece that Urfi chooses to wear, we can’t deny the fact that Ms Javed stitches guts like a pro to them.

From experimenting with cut-outs to modelling in two pants (at the same time), Urfi’s often termed “bizarre” closet still remains a question for one and all. Turning occasion wear into off-duty staples and wrapping a saree while catching flights, this Ex-Bigg Boss OTT contestant dares to take on the toughest of assignments. While I too ain’t a big fan of her sartorial taste, her mind behind the technology of the right stitch is surprisingly interesting. Her closet that always comes with disclaimer boards of ‘dangerous risks’ there isn’t a single time it ends up being a ‘wardrobe malfunction.’ I mean, did y’all ever notice that? Never did her experiments fail, nor did a seam move an inch away. And the world can troll her as much as it wants, but Urfi’s relationship with her fashionable self is pretty deep. Moreover, it is a reminder of a woman’s happy bond with her wardrobe and is a sign of liberation from the set rules.

Let’s go back to her side-lace up glitter number for choreographer Nishant Bhat’s birthday bash and her recent all-safety pin dress, was there any scope of mistake in it? Ms Javed’s DIY recipe is unique and failproof. I mean it requires skills to mindfully crop the much-talked-about cuts in her outfits. However, fashion never tells you what’s right and what’s wrong it’s a mood we all love to channel, but does Urfi’s eccentric taste become bad, just because it’s taking a different track? Many times, when I see Urfi dress up, a thought always brings me back to the point–”Will we ever question a bigger star, if she chooses to wear an outfit like hers?” I think the answer is definitely–No.

Risk taking has always come with the idea of playing the main character, something the Kardashian sisters declare they’re pretty good at. Although, with Urfi risqué in no time turns into a fashion faux pas, just ’cause she chose to wear an extreme cut-out for a stroll in Mumbai’s Bandra (I definitely can’t pull that off so seamlessly). I mean, it was just a few moons back, when Kim Kardashian debuted her barely-there distressed denim jeans, and the internet hailed the “Queen.” But will we hail ma’am Javed, if she chooses to do the same? Well, we gotta point out at the bias position play and people’s idea of boxing celebrity fashion.
