Shashi Tharoor Posted A Hilarious Matrimonial Advertisement About A Woman Looking For A Fully Vaccinated Man
Matrimonial advertisements, especially those that are published in newspapers, have always bothered me. They always seem to want fair-skinned girls who are tall, have long hair and no real ambition. It was all the stereotypical beauty standards and the underlined sexism that irked me. In the wake of this pandemic though, there are has been a new requirement being added to these problematic criteria. This one though, I stand by. You see, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor recently tweeted a newspaper clipping featuring a very funny matrimonial advertisement. This woman is looking for a groom that is not only tall, dark and handsome but also fully vaccinated. I think that’s very smart of her.
His politics aside, Shashi Tharoor is known for his eloquence and out-of-world vocabulary. Hearing him speak is like music to my ears. And while his social media is usually full of serious news, politics and global problems, he has proven time and again that he too has a sense of humour. On Tuesday, he tweeted a picture of a matrimonial advertisement dated June 4, 2021. As per the advertisement, a self-employed Roman Catholic woman is on the lookout for a man, of her faith, who has received both doses of the Covidsheild vaccine.

This truly is a one-of-a-kind matrimonial advertisement. And maybe Shashi Tharoor is right, it is the new normal to seek a partner who is fully vaccinated. In the advertisement, the woman has also stated various other criteria that need to be checked off. Someone alert Sima Taparia. Or maybe don’t. She’ll think it’s too forward for a woman to want a fully vaccinated man. At least thanks to Shashi Tharoor’s tweet, she might be able to meet the man of her dreams and fast. Who of course, will be fully vaccinated.
