From Alia In Sabya To Nayanthara In Red, Our Favourite Celebrity Brides In 2022

This year Bollywood witnessed many shaadis. From the simple balcony wedding of Alia, Ranbir to the grand backyard affair of Shibani and Farhan, every wedding captured the internet’s unbiased attention. Be it the decor or the dulhan’s lehenga, every look made trends like never before. While some trusted the charm of classic vermillion red, some others welcomed ivory as the ‘it’ colour for brides. And as we say goodbye to 2022, let’s go back and look at some of our favourite bridal looks of the year.

Alia Bhatt

Topping our list is actress Alia Bhatt who made waves with her wedding with actor Ranbir Kapoor. The most-talked-about couple chose their cosy home as the venue to say ‘I do.’ For the close-intimate affair, Bhatt added her name to the list of Sabyasachi brides, by trusting the designer for her big day. Exchanging the usual red with lustrous ivory, the actress’ custom saree lehenga described her love for little details through a spring-themed blouse, a veil that kept the wedding date intact, and kaleeras that came loaded with stars, clouds and the couple’s obsession with number 8.

Shibani Dandekar

Actors Shibani and Farhan took their vows at Javed Akhtar’s farmhouse in Khandala. For her special day, Shibani trusted a mix of modern and traditional, by picking a gorgeous two-piece set embellished with French Chantilly lace by label Jade. To complete her look, Dandekar let her hair loose and decorated her head with a gorgeous sheer veil.

Mouni Roy

Another actress who got married this year was Mouni Roy. The Brahmastra star tied the knot with businessman Suraj Nambiar. Paying homage to both her and husband Suraj’s cultural backgrounds, the actress dolled up for both Malayali and Bengali-style wedding. For her morning ceremony, Roy picked a gorgeous Kanjeevaram saree and traditional temple gold jewellery. While her evening Bengali rituals featured designer Sabyasachi’s beautiful beet root-red lehenga, which she teamed with traditional Shakha Pola bangles.

Richa Chadha

A wedding party like never before was hosted by actors Richa Chadha and Ali Fazal, as the two finally tied the knot after many delays. For both cocktail and a grand reception, Chadha experimented with a vast variety of cuts and chose to be unconventional and sassy than conventional and boring. Unlike her two glamorous functions, the intimate wedding ceremony was a vision in pearl white. The sufiyana-style ensemble on Richa was a custom-made gharara set by designers Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla.

Arpita Mehta

Taking cues from Alia Bhatt’s bridal saree, designer Arpita Mehta’s wedding look was a nod to the new bridal red, which is ivory. For her special day, Arpita matched her ensemble with designer/husband Kunal Rawal in a custom-made lehenga from her own brand. A special detail in Mehta’s wedding look was the usage of french-knot embroidery, (a signature of designer Kunal Rawal), to embed the wedding date. The gorgeous look styled by Mohit Rai also included a long-trailing double veil, and a subtle dewy makeup to bind it all together.

The film producer’s whimsical kalidar in the shade blue struck a perfect balance with gulabi pink. The tulle kalidar, included intricate embroidery, and textured detail with brocade and gotta work.
