Content Creators Gaurav, Ritu Taneja And Aashna Hegde Mark Their Debut At New York Fashion Week With Designer Archana Kochhar
The second round of New York Fashion Week is keeping everyone from celebrities to fashion nerds excited. With interesting new editions, the ongoing week of fashion is welcoming the nuance of South Asian style to its big, decorated platter. With the first-ever South Asian New York Fashion Week in place, and an exciting lineup of Indian designers showcasing on the scintillating ramp, it is indeed a proud moment for Indian artists. And amongst this roster of designers, one name who has already marked its stamp on the ramp is designer–Archana Kochhar.

Presenting her latest collection–Jharokha, Archana brought with her, a bag full of surprises for both Indian and international audiences. Marking their debut at this year’s New York Fashion Week are famous internet personalities/influencers–Aashna Hegde, Gaurav Taneja, Ritu Taneja and artiste–Jainil Mehta. For the internet’s favourite stars, the sparkling ramp debut proved to be a successful collaboration. Archana perhaps takes the baton forward, by giving a nod to the trend of welcoming influencers as headliners of collection showcases.

Highlighting the idea of sustainable fashion, Archana’s presentation came dipped in colours blue, red and tons of mirrors, decorating white attires. Archana gives her spin to the amalgamation of India’s rich heritage in handloom fabrics and modern-day silhouettes. With an aim to deliver the mood of the festive season, lehengas, glimmering shararas, and clean white kurta sets for men, headlined the collection. For embellishments, Archana brings her proficiency in intricate lacework, accompanied by bohemian trims and colourful pom-poms added to every piece. The collection also puts the labour of love by female weavers of Madhya Pradesh, under the spotlight. Besides advocating for ‘vocal for local’ the range is a product of handmade and locally-grown textiles that result in a low carbon footprint.

On the showstoppers, we saw a mix of colours and textiles, that matched their persona. Firstly, content creator Aashna Hegde walked the ramp in an angelic lehenga. Hegde paraded in a white, v-neck choli, adorned with lace detailing and accompanied by a long-trailing cape, originating from her sleeves. Furthermore, her white and sky-hued skirt delivered the charm of modern-day, fusion festive dressing. Next up, for the power couple and famous content creators–Gaurav and Ritu Taneja, Archana chose a matchy-matchy set to address the festive mood. On Ritu, we spotted a monochromatic, printed sharara set, that came adorned with striking pink trims. Gaurav coordinated with his wife, in a white kurta set, that displayed a version of the traffic-stopping print as seen on Ritu. Besides them, popular internet sensation, Jainil Mehta, who is known for his ghagharas and twirls, performed on the ramp in the designer’s fuchsia-hemlined, off-white skirt. He matched the white with a contrasting, printed, sheer shirt from the collection.
For her fourth outing at New York’s famous fashion week, Archana made sure to incorporate a playful colour palette, merged with pastel hues. Festive flounce and engaging prints remained an integral part of the range.
